Welcome to the Sharpsburg Council 12862 New WebsiteThe Knights of Columbus are a Catholic fraternal order founded in 1882 by Father Michael McGivney. These men they call Knights devote themselves to charitable works for the Church and for the community. The aims of our council is to help Catholic Men remain steadfast in their faith through mutual encouragement and to promote closer ties to fraternity among Catholic Men and their families. Sharpsburg Council 12862 was chartered on February 12, 2001 with 44 members. Over the years our membership has grown in excess of 118 active Knights of Columbus. The organizer and Charter Grand Knight was George Cabral. Our Council has been a resource on which the Pastor of Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, can always rely, whether cooking Burgers or Hot Dogs at the parish picnic, parking cars or working on a variety of other parish activities. The church is located on 3 Village Drive, Newnan, Georgia 30265. Our council has purchased and donated the “Monstrance” that is used in the Adoration Service and other religious ceremonies. We serve as Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers at Mass and the Homebound as well as Lectors and Ushers. Interested in joining the Knights of Columbus?If you are new to our parish, over 18 years of age and are a practicing Catholic and have a desire to get involved at Church or in Community activities, consider joining the Knights of Columbus at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. We are Sharpsburg Council 12862 and are always looking to add new members. Our organization offers an outstanding insurance program to all members.
