Fr. Ignacio Morales

Seminarian to Priesthood

Our council has supported Father Ignacio Morales with our prayers and a monthly stipend from his days in Seminary to his ordination. Father Morales or “Natcho” as he was called by the Archbishop at his ordination, was ordained in the Archdiocese of Atlanta on June 27, 2009. His first assignment: Prince of Peace Church in Flowery Branch, Georgia.

The youngest of nine children, the son of Isidro Morales and the late Ascencion Solis Lopez, Father Morales grew up in a rural town in the Mexican state of Guanajuato, some 130 miles from Guadalajara, the nearest big city. His father worked as farmer raising crops.

Father Morales attended Seminary in Morelia, a town part of the  Archdiocese of Michoacan, as a teen and then attended the Pontifical University of Mexico (one of the first Universities founded in the Americas 1551), in Mexico City, where he earned a degree in Sacred Theology, with highest honors. He lived in Atlanta for some time to study English at Georgia State University and also studied at St. Joseph Seminary College in Louisiana.
